CGC: Sahara Reporters Stir Hornet’s Nest With Biased Story On Age

….As stakeholders’ reactions pour in condemning Sahara Reporters yellow journalism

Cablenews24 reports that controversy enmeshed and fast deteriorating Sahara Reporters may have stirred the hornet nest following a badly investigated story titled Age Scandal, against the Comptroller General of Customs CGC, Adewale Adeniyi, as better-informed people have competently debunked the story.
It would be recalled that the Sahara Reporters has in recent times, fired wildly and blankly, thereby sending its once cherished image, to the gutters. Such a story was published Sunday, to scandalise the Customs Boss.
An industry stakeholder, Abdulsalam Mahmud stressed that while the CGC had penultimate Monday, provided facts and figures about his age, a reality which Sahara Reporters unethically and deliberately ignored, the platform had embarked on yellow journalism, in a way in which even the publisher could find, truly embarrassing.
Meanwhile, an Abuja-based public commentator and analyst, Muhammad Bashir has condemned what he called a ‘Give me a penny to paint Peter black’ philosophy of the Sahara Reporters outfit, stressing that such gesture ultimately leads to yellow journalism and loss of respect
The public analyst made the observation in an informed opinion he sent to Maritime First, advising against running objectivity out of journalism, in favour of a ‘business for profits’ vision.
“People venture into businesses to make a profit – thus, anything otherwise is considered a loss…and a loss is not ‘only’ when no take-home pay or surplus is not recorded, but also when the ethical purpose of the business is not being met!”, he emphatically pointed out.
