SERAS 2024: Airtel champions educational transformation with UNICEF partnership
At the 18th edition of the Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility Awards (SERAS) held on December 14, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Airtel Nigeria reaffirmed its leadership in sustainable development by clinching the prestigious “Partnership of the Year” award. This milestone marks the second consecutive win for the telecom giant, underscoring its impact on Nigeria’s education sector through innovative collaborations.
Airtel’s award-winning initiative, the “Re-imagine Education Initiative” , developed in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has been a game-changer in bridging the educational gap. By leveraging technology, the program has provided digital access to quality learning resources for over 1,200 schools across the country, significantly transforming the academic experience for countless students.
Airtel’s Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Femi Adeniran, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a testament to the company’s dedication to driving social impact. “Winning this award for the second consecutive year is a reflection of our enduring belief in the transformative power of technology in education. We are deeply committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of Nigerians, and this recognition fuels our resolve to do even more,” Adeniran stated.
The SERAS Awards, recognized as Africa’s premier platform for celebrating corporate social responsibility and sustainability excellence, brought together industry leaders to spotlight initiatives making measurable differences. Airtel Nigeria’s consistent focus on inclusive growth and community empowerment demonstrates its strategic approach to creating long-term value for both society and the environment.
