Comptroller Frank Onyeka Takes Charge At Tincan Island Port Area Command As Nnadi Takes A bow
…Outgoing Comptroller ACG Nnadi Solicites Support Of Stakeholders For New Area Controller
A new era has berthed at the Tincan Island Port Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NIS, following the formal handover of the reins of power by the outgoing Comptroller, Comptroller DA Nnadi mni, to Comptroller FO Onyeka, as the new Area Customs Comptroller.
Cablenews24 reports that this follows the promotion of Comptroller DA Nnadi mni, to Assistant Comptroller General. Comptroller Onyeka, holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration wih a wealth of experience and numerous certifications from both local and international training.
Comptroller Onyeka is known for his remarkable intellect and exceptional courage in every assignment. His dedication to the core mandates of the Comptroller General of Customs is evident in his ability to uphold high standards and align operations with global best practices.
This Online news medium learnt that prior to his current role, he was instrumental in generating significant revenue at the Premier Port Gate and the Onne Port Area Command Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) gate, where his innovative approach led to substantial revenue collection and successful anti-smuggling operations.
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Onyeka emphasized his commitment to the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, focusing on collaboration, consolidation, and innovation. He called on all stakeholders, including security agencies, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and the media, to work together with him to uphold the legacy of his predecessor, ACG Nnadi mni.
ACG Nnadi mni expressed gratitude to the officers and stakeholders for their support and highlighted the Command’s achievements, including the collection of N1,226,777,245,874.97 in revenue, representing 86.8% of the 2024 Federal Government revenue target. He urged continued cooperation with the new CAC to maintain the Command’s success in revenue generation and anti-smuggling efforts.
“Notably, the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of goods seized at the Tincan Island Port has risen from N1.051, 617,767.00 in 2023 to N4, 505,995,975.00 in 2024, reflecting a remarkable increase of N3, 454,378,208.00” ACG Nnadi noted.
The out going ACG, promised that his office at the headquarters would be open to all who may need his advice on matters that would move the Command and Service forward.
Comptroller Onyeka’s appointment is expected to bring a new wave of innovation and efficiency to the Tincan Island Port Area Command, reinforcing its role as a key player in Nigeria’s customs operations.
