The Federal Government has announced a phased approach to the bid-opening process across 17 states. The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) revealed this strategy in a statement on its official website, citing safety and crowd control as primary concerns.

According to the FHA, over 2,000 bids have been received for the housing initiative, prompting the authority to implement a zone-by-zone schedule to mitigate potential crowd-related issues. The statement according to CableNews24 outlined the timeline for bid openings stating “Following the submission of tenders for the Renewed Hope Housing projects slated for December 30, 2024, and in view of the fact that the authority has received over 2000 bids, the management of Federal Housing Authority hereby makes the following announcement to forestall any incidents of crowd-controlled issues or stampede following the large number of crowd expected.

“That the bids would be opened zone by zone starting from the South-South, North-West, South-East, North-East, North-Central and South-West. That each of the zones would be opened every day starting from the South-South on December 30, 2024; North-West, December 31, 2024; South-East, January 2, 2025; North-East, January 3, 2025; North-Central, January 6, 2025; and South-West, January 7, 2025.”

The FHA emphasized that only the managing directors of bidding companies or their designated representatives would be permitted entry. Security measures will be heightened at the FHA headquarters to ensure orderliness.

“Only the managing director of each company or its representative would be allowed. Every representative would be cleared at the gate to gain access to the FHA Head office, the authority is constrained to this measure in view of the huge crowd expected and to check against any incident of crowd control or stampede. All inconveniences are hereby regretted,” the statement read.

The Renewed Hope Housing project aims to address Nigeria’s housing deficit by delivering affordable housing solutions across the country.
