Fidelity bank supports families of children with special needs with “Bundles of Joy” initiative

Fidelity Bank Plc has taken a significant step towards fostering inclusivity and social responsibility with the launch of its “Bundles of Joy” initiative. This programme is designed to provide holistic support to children with special needs and their families, offering not just recreational activities but also crucial resources to empower caregivers.

The inaugural session, held at a purpose-built facility in Lekki, Lagos, highlighted the bank’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by this often-overlooked demographic. Divisional Head of Brand and Communications, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, described the initiative as a personal vision of Fidelity Bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe.

“Bundles of Joy is a vision of our Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe. The initiative is designed to foster an inclusive society by supporting children with special needs. During today’s session, the children will engage in a variety of educative and entertaining activities aimed at enhancing their mobility and social skills. At the same time, their parents and caregivers will participate in tailored workshops to equip them with the skills and resources they need to better care for their children,” Nwagboh stated.

The event was more than just a series of activities it became a space for connection and mutual support. Parents shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the opportunity. Joy Daberechi, a participant, said, “This is a wonderful programme. The sessions have helped me learn more about caring for my daughter, thanks to the resourceful facilitators. I deeply appreciate Fidelity Bank for creating this opportunity, even though I haven’t yet opened an account. I encourage other parents to take advantage of this initiative.”

Another parent, Deborah Eromokhodion, reflected on the value of the programme. “It’s been a heartwarming experience and has created a community of support. We’ve had insightful sessions with specialist facilitators on helping our children achieve milestones and goals. Meeting other parents and exchanging tips has been invaluable.”

The event concluded with a touch of joy, as children received goodie bags, and parents were gifted tokens of appreciation, underscoring the bank’s dedication to making an impact.

Families interested in the programme can register online, with activities for registered children set to begin in January 2025. The initiative aims to continue building a sense of community and providing much-needed support for families navigating the complexities of raising children with special needs.
