JCI Nigeria seeks to spotlight young changemakers through prestigious award

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria is gearing up for its 2025 Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Award, a platform designed to celebrate the exceptional contributions of young Nigerians aged 18 to 40.

The award aims to spotlight individuals who have demonstrated ethical leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative thinking in various fields. It also serves as an opportunity to amplify their impact on society at both local and national levels.

At a press conference, the chairperson of the 2025 TOYP programme, Yetunde Oyeyipo, announced that nominations are open from December 2024 to February 2025. She called on Nigerians to nominate deserving candidates via the JCI Nigeria website. A rigorous selection process, involving a panel of judges and audit partners, will narrow the nominees to a Top 30 list by March 2025.

The TOYP Award spans ten categories, including business and entrepreneurial achievement, cultural contributions, scientific development, and humanitarian leadership, among others. Winners in these categories will not only receive national recognition but will also have the opportunity to compete on the global stage alongside awardees from over 50 countries where JCI operates.

Highlighting the significance of the award, Oyeyipo noted that seven Nigerians have previously earned global accolades under JCI, including notable figures such as Ray Ekpu (1988), Dr. Ola Orekunrin (2013), and Temie Giwa-Tubosun (2021).

The TOYP Award is a celebration of excellence and an opportunity to inspire young people to turn challenges into opportunities, Oyeyipo said, he encourage Nigerians to take part in this process by nominating young leaders making a difference.
