As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has officially commissioned a newly renovated Local Authority Primary School and a Primary healthcare centre in Sagbokojia riverside community, in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Cablenews24 reports that speaking at the landmark event, CGC Adeniyi reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to uplifting host communities by addressing both educational and infrastructural gaps.

He revealed that the initiative goes beyond physical structures, and extending to direct welfare support for schoolchildren.
“We are undertaking projects that will directly touch the lives of our schools and students,” Adeniyi stated. “Today, we’re not only handing over a renovated school building, but also distributing school bags, exercise books, textbooks, and sandals to every pupil. Through our collaboration with Apapa Command and dedicated stakeholders, we’ve turned this vision into reality.”

This Online News Medium understands that emphasising the significance of healthcare in nation-building, Adeniyi noted that access to quality medical services is a critical pillar of the Service’s CSR agenda.

He acknowledged the broader needs of the Sagbokoji community while assuring residents of Customs’ commitment to a long-term partnership aimed at sustained development.
“This is only a first step,” he affirmed. “We recognise that this community’s needs surpass what we’ve done today, but we are laying the foundation for an enduring relationship.”
The event drew the presence of community leaders, customs officials, stakeholders, and delighted residents, marking a hopeful chapter in Sagbokoji’s story.

Similarly, in a remarkable show of community commitment, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), through its Apapa Area Command, has delivered a fully renovated Local Authority Primary School and a Primary Healthcare Centre to the Sagbokoji community in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State.

The initiative, executed under the ‘Customs Cares’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, underscores the Service’s dedication to improving the welfare of its host communities.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, described the project as a testament to the Service’s compassion and sense of duty beyond its primary responsibilities of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and anti-smuggling.

“This gesture demonstrates that Customs cares about the well-being of communities where we operate,” Olomu said. “For the past four weeks, our team, with unwavering support from stakeholders, worked tirelessly — day and night — to bring this project to life.”
Adding to the commendations, Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh, hailed the initiative as historic. “This is the first time we’re witnessing uniformed officers take on such a project in our community,” he remarked. “I’m deeply grateful to the Nigeria Customs Service for not only renovating our school but also revamping our healthcare centre.”

The headmaster of LA Primary School, Oladeyo Emmanuel, also expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting that the upgrades would significantly enhance the learning environment and uplift the spirits of both teachers and pupils.

The event featured the distribution of educational materials — including textbooks, exercise books, school bags, and sandals — to delighted pupils, and concluded with the formal handover of the rehabilitated facilities to the community.
