Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that there are no anointed candidates for the upcoming primary elections as such the doors of the party will be opened to all members.

Cablenews24 reports that the Chairman’s message contained in a Press statement made available to this Online medium was unequivocal: “All available positions are open for contest as the party has no anointed candidate for any seat.” This declaration serves as an invitation for all interested members to step forward and participate in the electoral process, fostering a competitive environment where the best candidates can emerge.

However, Ojelabi also issued a note of caution regarding the financial aspects of the nomination process. He clarified that the party will not refund any nomination or administrative fees to aspirants, a policy aimed at ensuring that candidates are committed to their campaigns from the outset.

This approach is designed to ensure that all members have a fair opportunity to contest for positions, reinforcing the party’s dedication to internal democracy.

Ojelabi made it clear that while direct primaries will be the first option, consensus arrangements will also be encouraged, provided they are reached freely and are accepted by all stakeholders.

In a spirited announcement following the successful conclusion of the National Convention, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for their unwavering support and commitment. The convention marked a significant milestone for the party, culminating in the election of officers across various segments, and setting the stage for the next critical phase: the primaries.

As the party pivots towards the upcoming elections, Ojelabi emphasized the importance of adhering to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable and the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act (as amended). “Now that the convention is over, our main focus is the process of electing the candidates who will fly our party’s flag in the next election,” he stated, underscoring the party’s commitment to a transparent and democratic selection process.

In a bid to promote gender equity within the party, special consideration will be given to popular and influential female aspirants in relevant constituencies. This initiative reflects the APC’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and the recognition of women’s vital role in politics. Ojelabi encouraged female members to actively participate and make their voices heard in the primaries.

As the party prepares for this critical phase, the Chairman urged all members to adhere to the rules and conduct themselves with dignity and honor. “We will not engage in the imposition of candidates, nor will we influence the outcome of the primaries,” he asserted, reinforcing the party’s dedication to a fair and transparent electoral process.

While the official guidelines for the primaries are yet to be released by the national body, Ojelabi called on all members to maintain decorum, discipline, and mutual respect throughout the process. “As a party of structure, we remain committed to upholding the principles of internal democracy,” he stated, encouraging members to play their part in shaping the future of the APC.
