Lagos, Sterling One Foundation Host Investment Social Impact Summits
The Lagos State Government and Sterling One Foundation have announced plans to host two high-level summits aimed at fast-tracking economic growth and sustainable development—both within the state and across Africa.
Cablenews24 reports that while speaking at a press conference held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, Ikeja, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folasade Bada-Ambrose, said that the Invest in Lagos 2.0 Summit and the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) will take place this week on Victoria Island.
According to her, the Invest in Lagos 2.0 Summit, scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, 2025, is themed “Scaling Action: Bold Solutions Towards Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy.” The summit, she said, is focused on transitioning the state from planning to implementation by attracting tangible investments and scaling innovation across priority sectors such as civil infrastructure, green energy, technology, fintech, and the creative economy.
“The summit will bring together policymakers, investors, development partners, and industry leaders for result-driven engagements,” she said. “One of the highlights is the Deal Room segment, where investment opportunities in Lagos will be pitched directly to local and global investors through targeted sessions.”
This Online News Medium understands that Mrs. Bada-Ambrose added that Lagos remains open for business and continues to position itself as a smart city and digital innovation hub in sub-Saharan Africa.
Following the investment summit, Lagos will co-host the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) on July 10 and 11 in partnership with Sterling One Foundation, the United Nations, Sterling Bank, and other development partners.
The Commissioner said the Africa Social Impact Summit is designed to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of climate resilience, health equity, education, youth empowerment, and policy innovation. She noted that ASIS 2025 will include keynote speeches, panel discussions, and strategic networking opportunities to foster collaboration between governments, the private sector, development finance institutions, and social enterprises.
Also speaking at the briefing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, said both summits are aligned with the core objectives of the SDGs and demonstrate Lagos State’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
Chief Executive Officer of Sterling One Foundation, Ms. Olapeju Ibekwe, praised Lagos for consistently leading as an innovation hub, revealing that previous editions of the summits had helped unlock over $100 million in investment committed to advancing SDG-17—focused on strengthening partnerships for sustainable development.
The twin summits are expected to reinforce Lagos’ status as a global destination for investment, while also promoting strategic collaborations for a resilient and prosperous Africa.
