Otedola to Daughter: “Succumb to Your Husband, He’s Boss”

Billionaire Femi Otedola sparked discussion with traditional marriage advice given to his daughter, Temi Otedola Ajibade, and her new husband, singer Mr Eazi (Oluwatosin Ajibade), during their Iceland wedding reception in August 2025.

Cablenews24 reports that following earlier celebrations in Monaco and Dubai, Otedola praised the couple’s love and entrepreneurial drive, calling their union “made in heaven.” His advice to Temi, however, drew particular attention: “You have to succumb to the whims and caprices of your husband. Okay? He’s your husband, he’s your boss. There’s no more dad, don’t call me up.”

Otedola lauded Mr Eazi as a “great guy” from a “decent family” and a fellow “real hustler” whose entrepreneurial spirit matched Temi’s. He advised the couple to resolve disagreements privately, stating, “When you have issues, problems, just keep it within yourself… keep it within your walls.”

His wedding gift advice urged them to “out-think, out-manoeuvre, and out-spend” as entrepreneurs.

The speech coincided with Temi officially changing her social media surname to Ajibade, captioning a post “Mr and Mrs Ajibade.” This combination – the “succumb” advice and the name change – reignited debates within Nigerian feminist circles about traditional gender roles and expectations for women after marriage.
