Charlie Kirk Killed in Campus Shooting; Suspect in Custody

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, while speaking at an event on the campus of Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. Authorities have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect.

Cablenews24 reports that Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA, was addressing a crowd of approximately 3,000 people in the UVU Fountain Courtyard as part of his organization’s “The American Comeback Tour.” According to officials and witness accounts:

• Robinson arrived on campus around 8:29 a.m. MT in a gray Dodge Challenger, wearing light-colored clothing.
• He later changed into dark clothing.
• Security footage showed him moving through campus buildings and onto a rooftop near the event location.
• At approximately 12:23 p.m. MT, as Kirk was speaking after interacting with the crowd, a single shot was fired from the rooftop, striking Kirk.
• Robinson then reportedly jumped from the building and fled into a nearby neighborhood.
• Kirk was immediately carried by several individuals to an SUV and transported to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident triggered a campus lockdown as police and first responders swarmed the scene. Initial reports mistakenly indicated a suspect was in custody, but Orem Police clarified around 2:22 p.m. MT that the shooter was still at large.

Following an intensive manhunt, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that Robinson was taken into custody in Washington County, Utah, within 33 hours of the shooting. The FBI had previously released images seeking the public’s help in identifying Robinson as a person of interest.

Prominent figures, including President Donald Trump and Utah Senator Mike Lee, expressed reactions to Kirk’s death shortly after the shooting occurred.
