Just A Month into His Role, NDLEA C/River Boss Found Dead
CALABAR – Just one month into his role, NDLEA Cross River State Commander CNO Ogbonna Uzoma was discovered dead in his Calabar hotel room.
Cabenews24 reports that the incident which occurred on September 18th, has triggered a major investigation.
Alarm was raised when Uzoma, who assumed duty on August 18th, missed a 10 a.m. operation. NDLEA officers, unable to contact him, enlisted hotel staff who accessed the room via a ceiling panel to find his body.
This Online News Medium gathered that NDLEA Headquarters confirmed the incident via spokesperson Femi Babafemi, stating the police were notified immediately and the State Commissioner of Police visited the scene. A full probe into the unexplained death is underway.

NDLEA Chairman Marwa responded by sending Zonal Commander ACGN Mathew Ewah to support the investigation. Uzoma had been actively engaged in combating drug trafficking in the strategic state, including overseeing recent major seizures.
The agency expressed deep condolences to Uzoma’s family and vowed to uncover the truth. “We are committed to a thorough investigation,” Chairman Marwa emphasized.
