EFCC Arrests Two Metrodigital TV Staff for Illegal DStv, GOtv Rebroadcasting
On Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested two employees of Metrodigital Television Ltd in Port Harcourt for allegedly rebroadcasting DStv and GOtv content illegally.

Cablenews24 reports that during the raid at No. 12 Order Street, EFCC operatives confiscated broadcasting machines, decoders, and servers, along with documents related to signal manipulation. The arrested individuals, Chinedu Nwaikwu and Uche Kanu, were found with 22 decoders in use at the time.
A Federal High Court Preservation Order authorized the EFCC to secure and label all items linked to the unauthorized rebroadcast. The court also issued an injunction preventing Metrodigital Television and associated companies from accessing DStv and GOtv signals until the case is resolved.
Financial Restrictions Imposed
The court placed a Post-No-Debit restriction on several bank accounts connected to the alleged piracy, including those of Metrodigital and its CEO, Ifeanyi John Nwafor. The EFCC is tasked with notifying banks to enforce these restrictions.
Next Steps in Legal Proceedings
The case is set for a hearing on October 22, 2025. The court declined to issue an arrest warrant or INTERPOL watch-listing for the defendants, as they have not been formally arraigned.
Commitment to Intellectual Property Rights
The EFCC confirmed that all seized items will be secured for evidence and reiterated its commitment to dismantling illegal content redistribution networks and protecting the rights of legitimate broadcasters.
