Ooni Endorses 2026 Canada-Africa Investment Summit

By Love Ikuku-Oyedokun

Lagos, Nigeria – The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has endorsed his participation in the Canada-Africa Real Estate, Tourism & Hospitality Exchange (CARTHE), a high-profile summit set for May 2026 in Toronto, Canada.

Cablenews24 reports that organized by Get Elevated Inc. and Perfection Real Estate Group, the event will connect 100+ African and Canadian executives to explore investment opportunities, best practices, and partnerships.

The Ooni’s support signals strong traditional backing for the initiative, which organizers say is not tied to Lagos issues but addresses continent-wide investor challenges.

The organizers emphasize that this exchange will offer industry professionals valuable insights, best practices, partnership opportunities, and enhanced collaboration with Canadian counterparts, particularly in rapidly growing multicultural cities like Mississauga and Brampton.

Get Elevated Inc., which also publishes AfroCaribe Magazine, dedicated to showcasing African culture and achievements in Canada, has a history of hosting impactful diaspora events. They aim to empower African leaders to influence the future of real estate and tourism across the continent through this exchange.

In anticipation of the 2026 expo, Get Elevated Inc. and Perfection Real Estate Group will host a pre-event awards ceremony in Nigeria on February 12, 2026. This event will honor notable individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted national and continental development. The Ooni of Ife will be recognized as the inaugural recipient of the Peace Ambassador award, alongside other distinguished Nigerians.

The endorsement from the Ooni is seen as a vital endorsement, reflecting strong traditional and socio-cultural backing for the Canada-Africa partnership.

While recent controversies in Nigeria’s real estate sector have raised concerns, the organizers clarify that this initiative is not a reaction to specific events in Lagos. Instead, it aims to tackle broader challenges faced by investors across Nigeria, Africa, and the diaspora, including:

  • Real estate scams
  • Project delays
  • Fraudulent documentation
  • Insufficient due diligence
  • Poor regulatory compliance

The Canada-Africa Exchange seeks to equip participants with the knowledge and frameworks necessary to mitigate these risks while fostering credibility, innovation, and safer investment avenues.

The initiative has garnered backing from prominent real estate professionals and organizations, including members of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), who view the project as timely and strategically important.

Organizers describe this year’s event as a pilot edition, aimed at establishing long-term bilateral opportunities between Africa and Canada in the realms of real estate, tourism, and hospitality. A special magazine edition will also be launched to promote awareness of the initiative.
