BY Love Oyedokun

A coordinated intelligence operation in Damaturu, Yobe State, has led to the dismantling of a notorious criminal hideout and the arrest of 17 suspects, including a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The raid, which took place on January 18th at approximately 7:20 PM in the Saman Tudu area of Pompomari District, targeted a known haven for illicit activities.

Cablenews24 reports that according to sources familiar with the operation, the targeted location served as a central hub for drug trafficking and consumption, as well as a planning ground for various criminal enterprises operating within the community. Security forces acted on credible intelligence, conducting a thorough search of the premises.

Among those arrested was Mohammed B. Kolo, identified as an NSCDC personnel attached to the Yobe State Command. The raid also yielded several pieces of evidence, including a knife, five bicycles, dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, hemp wrapping papers, a makeshift mat, and ₦8,500 found within a sack believed to contain the drugs.

The suspects are currently in custody, and an investigation is underway to determine the extent of their involvement in criminal activities. Authorities have stated that those found culpable will face prosecution in court upon completion of the investigation.

Security agencies are urging residents to continue providing timely and reliable information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain security throughout Yobe State.
