MTF Extends 2026 Application Window for Aspiring Filmmakers

The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), a premier pan-African training initiative, has officially extended the application deadline for its 2026 cohort. Aspiring directors, producers, scriptwriters, and technical crew members across the continent now have until April 27 to submit their applications for this prestigious, fully funded, and industry-accredited program.

Cablenews24 reports that  launched by the MultiChoice Group, a CANAL+ company, the MTF initiative is designed to bridge the gap between creative passion and professional excellence. By offering a blend of mentorship, intensive technical training, and immersive real-world production experience, the program serves as a launchpad for the next generation of African voices in film and television.

Who Should Apply?

The academy is calling on young, motivated creatives aged 18 to 35 who possess a deep-seated passion for the screen industry. Candidates are not required to hold a formal film degree. Eligibility is open to those who:

• Have qualifications in media, drama, or related creative fields.
• Possess one to two years of active industry experience.
• Demonstrate a strong portfolio or a clear vision for storytelling.

The Curriculum and Benefits

The 12-month program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of the production lifecycle. Participants gain hands-on expertise in:

• Creative Development: Scriptwriting and storytelling techniques.
• Technical Production: Cinematography, sound design, and lighting.
• Operational Management: Production management and post-production workflows.

Because the program is fully funded , students are relieved of financial burdens such as tuition, production costs, and living expenses. The inclusion of a monthly stipend ensures that fellows can dedicate their full focus to refining their craft and producing high-quality content.

Since its inception in 2018, the MTF has significantly impacted the African creative landscape. Operating out of four strategic hubs— Johannesburg, Nairobi, Lagos, and Lusaka —the academy has cultivated a diverse network of talent.
