SCHOOL RESUMPTION: SS3, TEC3 students in Lagos resume, commences revision ahead of forthcoming examinations

In line with directives of the Lagos state government, al senior school 3, ss3 and technical study three, tec3, students in both day and boarding schools resume Monday august 3rd 2020 for revision classes ahead of their forthcoming examinations.
Not leaving anything to chance, the permanent secretary, Lagos state ministry of education, Mrs. Abosede Adelaja took a tour of schools to ensure strict compliance to guidelines on school resumption.
At the entrance into each of the schools visited, temperature checks are carried out, running water, soaps for handwashing and sanitizers are in place for use by students and visitors alike, in line with the covid-19 protocols guidelines as laid down by federal government, to help curb the spread of the pandemic.
The PS education took time out to admonish the students who were so excited to be back to school after a long compulsory break. “ we pray that you will all write this exams successful and in good condition so help us to help u, when you are going home don’t rush out, go out one-by-one, allow your temperatures to be checked, if see anybody is sick, don’t cover up, report to your teachers because it won’t do anybody any good, so that person can be attended to and be giving the necessary attention.” “when you are going home don’t rush at the bus stop, maintain social distancing from others, your life is important, to yourself first and foremost, to your parents and the society at large. on the part of Lagos state government, we don’t want any casualty form our students so God will help us. Maintain the protocols strictly whether your teachers are there or not. Lagos state government has provided mask for all of you and your teachers will distribute it to you soon”
From Agidingbi senior grammar school, the monitoring team moved to government technical college, Agidingbi, Lagos- the school also looks set for business with a standard sick bay in place to take care of unforeseen emergencies.
Mrs. Adelaja expressed satisfaction at the level of compliance in the schools visited. “Am happy to say that many of the schools visited actual complied with the guidelines and protocols for covid-19. The schools made all the necessary provisions with respect to the hand-wash, I tried to open some of the tap to wash my hands and with the soap to really identify the quality, in all the schools and the students were all masked up, and they were shown how to use the mask, so that they can use them appropriately, many of them were told why they need to obey all these rules for their own physical and health well-being.”
The permanent secretary also called on parents/guardians to play their part at home by talking to their children on the need to always keep to the new normal. “we are to be responsible for our health now as such you are doing anybody any favour by adhering strictly to the guidelines and I want to use this medium to call on parent. Guardians to talk to their children at home on the need to keep to all the safety measures as specified by the authorities”.
The teachers and pupils expressed happiness to be back to the classroom after over three months stay at home. Mrs. Akanni Adebisi, the principal of Government Technical College , Agidingbi Lagos, thanked the Lagos state government for providing the schools with the some of the materials needed to ensure safety of both students and teachers, She also expressed joy to be back to school “I feel happy that we are back in school and I thank God that we did not have any negative report about our students during the period of isolation.
Today we have about 66 of them on ground and we have our teachers too. We have tried to put facilities in place to prevent transmission of covid-19. we have educated the students as they are coming -in, we check their temperature, the wash hand water and soap is there for them, those of them that don’t have face mask, we provide for them and we encourage them to maintain social distancing
With the level of compliance in place at these schools, it is hoped by many that the road to full opening of schools in Lagos, might just be closer than thought.
