By Andrea Samuel
Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, has identified talent development as vital for employment generation.
Aniagwu stated this on Thursday while playing host to a delegation of actors and actresses led by Mr. Emmanuel Iwala, the Special Adviser on Talent Hunt to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who paid h a courtesy visit in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The commissioner noted that talent development is critical in employment generation, curbing youth restiveness and enhancing social life.
Aniagwu added that Delta state under Okowa saw the need to develop an ultra-modern film village to cater for the huge number of talented Deltans, who may not have been able to explore ways of showcasing their talents.
The commissioner for information who assured that the film village wwas expected to engender peace, unity and development, observed that Delta State and Akwa Ibom State are noted for hospitality and was therefore not surprised that the Special Adviser led a powerful delegation to Delta State.
Aniagwu expressed hope that the collaboration between the two states would move beyond hospitality and entertainment to economic development.
Earlier, Iwala, informed the commissioner that they were in Delta to explore the abundant resources, adding that the enabling environment which made film production much easier is of interest to them.
While commending the Delta State Government for developing an all-encompassing film village, Iwala observed that the initiative would practically make the state a destination for film production as well as employ a good number of youths with budding talents.
