Terrorism: Nigerian Military, Troops Eliminated 10,937 Terrorists, Apprehended 12,538 in 2024

In a major victory for the Nigerian military, troops have eliminated 10,937 terrorists and apprehended 12,538 others in the past 12 months.

Cablenews24 reports that this significant achievement was announced by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, while briefing newsmen on the military’s operations in 2024.

The troops also rescued 7,063 hostages and recovered a substantial amount of weapons and ammunition, including 8,815 weapons and 228,004 ammunitions, valued at over N68.4 billion.

This Online News Medium gathered that the military’s efforts have significantly degraded the fighting capabilities of terrorists, with 16,171 surrendered terrorist combatants and their families recorded during the year. The troops also denied oil thieves an estimated sum of over N68.4 billion, recovering 4,332 AK47 rifles, 1,244 locally fabricated guns, and other assorted arms and ammunitions.

In the North-East, troops neutralized 3,151 terrorists, arrested 2,503 suspects, and rescued 1,605 kidnap hostages. In the North-Central, troops neutralized 1,047 violent extremists, arrested 3,001 suspects, and rescued 1,782 kidnap hostages

The successes were recorded across various regions, including the North-East, North-Central, North-West, South-South, and South-East. In the North-East, troops neutralized 3,151 terrorists, arrested 2,503 suspects, and rescued 1,605 kidnap hostages. In the North-Central, troops neutralized 1,047 violent extremists, arrested 3,001 suspects, and rescued 1,782 kidnap hostages.
