Tinubu Averts Refinery Crisis; Dangote Thanks President

The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a strong statement of appreciation, crediting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive intervention that successfully averted a disruptive industrial action planned by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

Cablenews24 reports that in a public statement, the refinery confirmed that the President’s leadership, executed through key ministers and top security officials, was instrumental in restoring immediate stability to the vital Nigerian energy sector during a critical juncture.

“Dangote Refinery is grateful to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, HE Bola Tinubu, GCFR for his intervention, through his Ministers and senior officials, which resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the Refinery,” the statement read.

Security Chiefs Praised for Tireless Work

The company specifically lauded the security apparatus for working “tirelessly” to defuse the situation. Among the officials recognized for ensuring the restoration of order were the nation’s Security Chiefs, including National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the DSS, Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director General of the NIA, Mr. Mohammed Mohammed.

The refinery also extended high commendation to several senior cabinet members who reportedly worked “untiringly and determinedly into the wee hours of several nights” to prevent what they termed a disruption orchestrated by “anarchists and agents of darkness.” These ministers include the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

The statement concluded this section by asserting, “We remain very grateful to these officials for their patriotism and national service.”

Public and Workforce Loyalty Praised

Beyond government intervention, Dangote Refinery extended heartfelt gratitude to the Nigerian public. The company noted that the overwhelming public support received via media channels and public discourse energized the workforce and reinforced their belief in the Nigerian people as the enterprise’s foundation.

The refinery assured the public that it remains focused on working in their interest and will persist in protecting that interest against “rent seekers, economic saboteurs and economic squatters.”
