Zenith Bank Reports N917.4BN PBT in Nine Months
…Strong Earnings Growth
Zenith Bank Plc announced a 16% increase in gross earnings for the nine months ending September 30, 2025, reaching N3.37 trillion, up from N2.9 trillion in Q3 2024.
Interest Income Surge
The growth was primarily driven by a 41% rise in interest income to N2.7 trillion, supported by a high-yield environment and an expanded investment portfolio.
Profitability Insights
Profit before tax stood at N917 billion, down from N1 trillion in September 2024. Profit after tax decreased by 8% to N764 billion, with earnings per share at N18.60.
Asset Growth and Loan Quality
Total assets rose 4% to N31 trillion, bolstered by an 8% increase in customer deposits. The non-performing loan (NPL) ratio improved to 3% following loan write-offs.
Solid Financial Ratios
Return on Average Equity (ROAE) was 23.3%, while Return on Average Assets (ROAA) was 3.3%. The liquidity ratio remained strong at 53%.
CEO’s Optimistic Outlook
Looking to Q4 2025, Dame Dr. Umeoji reinforced her optimistic outlook: “This result confirms the resilience of both our business model and our people. Our focus on innovation, digital transformation, and developing solutions that address our clients’ changing needs positions us to capitalise on emerging opportunities whilst maintaining our disciplined approach to growth.” She assured shareholders that the robust performance, combined with improved asset quality and the Bank’s strong capital base, positions Zenith Bank to deliver exceptional returns with expectations of sustained value creation. “We’re well placed to sustain this momentum whilst maintaining responsible leadership in the Nigerian banking industry and delivering exceptional value to all our stakeholders.”
