Lagos, Nigeria – Polaris Bank, in collaboration with Evolve Charity Trust, has provided 1,000 students across 10 public secondary schools in five states with essential school supplies, reinforcing its commitment to educational development in Nigeria.

Cablenews24 reports that the initiative, part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aims to keep more children—especially girls—in school by alleviating financial burdens on families. Since 2021, the program has supported over 24,000 students in 49 schools nationwide.

Each beneficiary received a full learning kit, including:

  • School uniforms
  • Bags
  • Sandals
  • Six exercise books
  • Pens

School administrators reported that the supplies have improved attendance, boosted confidence, and enhanced academic performance among students.

Polaris Bank intentionally sourced materials from local tailors, bookshops, and traders, ensuring the initiative also empowered small businesses in beneficiary communities.

Mr. Kayode Lawal, Polaris Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, reaffirmed the bank’s five-year pledge to support education, particularly for girls, stating:
“These materials symbolize our belief in these students’ potential to become scholars, innovators, and future leaders.”

School principals across the beneficiary states expressed deep gratitude:

  • Hajiya Aisha Shehu Yakasai (Government Girls Secondary School, Kano) noted the supplies “meet urgent needs and ease family burdens.”
  • Mrs. Dabiri Nwabuoku (Gbaja Girls Schools, Lagos) praised Polaris Bank for its “consistent yearly gesture.”
  • Mr. Godwin Ejeh, Project Manager of Evolve Charity Trust, emphasized that “investing in a child’s education lights a candle that brightens entire communities.”

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), by promoting inclusive learning and reducing barriers for girls.

Polaris Bank reiterated its dedication to partnering with credible organizations to drive sustainable educational impact across Nigeria.
