The Lagos State Government has announced that President Bola Tinubu will visit the state on April 8 and 9, 2026, to inaugurate several landmark infrastructure projects spearheaded by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Cablenews24 reports that these projects are designed to improve urban mobility, streamline governance, and enhance educational facilities across the metropolis.

Key Projects to be Inaugurated

The state government highlighted the following initiatives as central to their vision for a “Greater Lagos”:

Project Location Primary Purpose
Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge Ikeja Axis Alleviate traffic congestion in key metropolitan hubs.
Tolu Schools Complex Ajegunle A massive redevelopment of 36 primary and secondary schools.
Multi-Agency Complex Alausa Centralize administrative processes for improved efficiency.
Mid-level Agro-Produce Hub Abijo, Lekki-Epe Enhance agricultural supply chain and food security.
e-GIS Building Ikeja Digital transformation and modernization of land records.

Briefing newsmen in Lagos, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, described the visit as a testament to the synergy between the Federal Government and the Lagos State administration. A standout project, the Tolu Schools Complex, serves as a significant milestone; the site—originally established 42 years ago under Lateef Jakande—has undergone a total regeneration. To ensure the longevity of this investment, the Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) has been tasked with its ongoing maintenance.

To accommodate the presidential movement and the influx of attendees, the government has issued a travel advisory. Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have finalized the following arrangements:

  • Personnel Deployment: Over 500 additional officers will be deployed to support existing traffic management teams.
  • Public Guidance: Residents are urged to plan their commutes in advance, particularly for Wednesday, April 8.
  • Avoidance: Motorists without essential business in the areas surrounding the commissioning sites are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid potential bottlenecks.
While the state guarantees that traffic flow will be managed with robust equipment and personnel, the government emphasizes that proactive planning by the public is essential to minimize travel delays during this period.
