Lagos, Nigeria – Dangote Refinery has become the epicenter of Nigeria’s fuel distribution following strategic pricing and policy changes that have triggered a massive surge in demand. The refinery now records over 1,000 trucks loading Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily, as marketers rush to take advantage of lower prices and reduced purchase requirements.

Cablenews24 reports that key changes already driving demands includes:

  • Price Cut: PMS now sells at ₦699 per litre, down from previous rates.
  • Lower Minimum Purchase: Marketers can now buy as little as 250,000 litres—a drastic drop from the initial 2 million-litre requirement.
  • 10-Day Bank Guarantee: A new payment assurance system ensures uninterrupted supply, boosting confidence among buyers.

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, stated: “Our goal is to make energy affordable and accessible for all Nigerians. By reducing prices and purchase limits, we’re enabling both large and small marketers to thrive, ensuring fuel reaches every community.”

The refinery’s inclusive approach has opened doors for smaller operators, strengthening distribution networks and improving nationwide fuel availability.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has urged its members to source products from Dangote Refinery, citing competitive pricing and reliable supply.

IPMAN National President Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima confirmed: “With over 80% control of Nigeria’s PMS retail market, we guarantee no fuel scarcity. Dangote Refinery is our preferred partner.”

Dangote reiterated that the refinery is a national project, not just a business venture. “If profit was my only goal, I could have invested $20 billion elsewhere. This is about securing Nigeria’s energy future,” he said.

With direct supply to IPMAN members set to begin in January 2026, the refinery is poised to further stabilize Nigeria’s fuel market, ensuring affordability and accessibility for all.
