The Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation (AAAF), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the SIFAX Group, has significantly enhanced the technological capabilities of 90 students from State Senior Secondary School, Oyewole, Agege, located in the Orile Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State. This initiative, conducted in partnership with the World Bank, is a pivotal component of the Foundation’s ongoing Community Connections Campaign Projects across Nigeria, demonstrating a strong commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering technological literacy among young Nigerians.

Cablenews24 reports that the training program, meticulously designed to empower students with practical technology skills, aims to substantially improve their educational outcomes, increase their prospects for securing gainful employment, and encourage self-sufficiency through entrepreneurship in the long term. The curriculum encompassed a diverse range of crucial areas, including fundamental computer literacy, the intricacies of machine learning, and the effective utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Students were carefully selected from various classes throughout the school, ensuring broad representation and maximizing the potential for knowledge dissemination. The program’s structure emphasized a “train-the-trainer” approach, with the expectation that participating students would effectively transfer the acquired skills and knowledge to their peers, thereby amplifying the impact of the initiative within the school community.

Mrs. Foluke Ademokun, the Executive Coordinator of the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation, underscored the strategic importance of the program. “This initiative is a vital part of our ongoing efforts to proactively address the pressing issues of youth unemployment and the pervasive skills gap that currently exists within the country,” she stated. “We firmly believe that this program will not only significantly benefit the participating students but also contribute positively to the overall economic development of their respective communities. By equipping these young individuals with relevant, in-demand skills, we are empowering them to improve their lives and actively contribute to the growth and prosperity of their communities.”

The school management expressed profound gratitude for the AAAF’s commitment to empowering their students. Mrs. Sherifat Ajala, the Vice Principal of State Senior Secondary School, Oyewole, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation, commending the Foundation for its exceptional facilitation and for providing the students with an invaluable opportunity to interact with leading experts and professionals in the field of technology.

“On behalf of the school management, the teaching staff, and, most importantly, all the students who have directly benefited from this transformative program, I extend our deepest gratitude to the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation and their esteemed sponsor, the SIFAX Group,” Mrs. Ajala stated. “Your unwavering commitment to the development and empowerment of our students is truly commendable. May the Almighty Lord continue to bless your organization and prosper your endeavors.”

During the training program, Goodluck Innocent and Moses Faith, two exemplary students who demonstrated exceptional engagement and participation, were recognized and rewarded for their outstanding contributions. In expressing their gratitude on behalf of their fellow students, they conveyed their sincere appreciation to the AAAF and the SIFAX Group for providing them with this exceptional opportunity to acquire skills that would undoubtedly enhance their future employability and open doors to a brighter future.
