President Tinubu Accepts Resignation of Nnaji Amid Allegations

President Bola Tinubu has officially accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following allegations against the cabinet member.

Cablenews24 reports that Nnaji, who took office in August 2023, submitted his resignation on Tuesday in a letter to the President, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.

In his resignation letter, Nnaji claimed he had been subjected to ongoing blackmail and political sabotage, which he characterized as efforts by adversaries to damage his reputation and divert him from his responsibilities.

In response, President Tinubu acknowledged Minister Nnaji’s contributions to the country and wished him well in his future endeavors as he accepted the resignation.

This resignation marks the first significant departure from the Tinubu administration since it began in May 2023, prompting discussions among political observers regarding the increasing pressure on some cabinet members.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, dated October 7, 2025.

In related news, May Agbamuche-Mbu, a lawyer and former publisher, has been appointed as the acting chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). She pledged to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and build upon the legacy of her predecessor, Mahmood Yakubu.

Political analysts anticipate that President Tinubu will nominate a permanent replacement for Nnaji, which will require Senate confirmation in the coming weeks. This appointment is expected to influence Nigeria’s electoral landscape as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
