“No Shutdown” – Dangote Refinery Slams False Reports

Lagos, Nigeria – Dangote Petroleum Refinery has dismissed reports of an impending shutdown, describing the claims as “false and misleading.” In a statement on Monday, the refinery confirmed uninterrupted operations with a daily production capacity of 40–50 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

• Current Output: Produced 50 million litres of PMS on January 4, with 48 million litres evacuated the same day.
• Stock Levels: Holds 20-day national supply buffer, ensuring stable market availability.
• Maintenance Clarification: Routine checks on some units (Crude Distillation Unit, Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker) do not halt production due to its integrated design. Other units remain fully operational, producing PMS, diesel, and jet fuel.

The refinery reaffirmed its ex-gantry price of N699 per litre, urging marketers to source locally to cut costs, save forex, and stabilize prices.

“By buying locally at N699/litre, marketers can reduce pump prices for Nigerians instead of relying on expensive imports,” the statement noted.

Dangote Refinery accused fuel importers of spreading falsehoods to justify recent price hikes, warning that without local refining, petrol could cost up to N1,400 per litre post-subsidy.

“Our operations prevent exploitative pricing. Importers want unrestrained profiteering at Nigerians’ expense,” the refinery stated.

The company urged the public to ignore misinformation and has reconfirmed its commitment to:
