Naval Wives Boost Education with New Facilities
By Love Oyedokun
Ojo, Lagos – The Navy Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the education of children within the naval community with the commissioning of four new classroom blocks and a renovated music laboratory at the Nigerian Navy Officers’ Wives Secondary School, Ojo, Lagos, today, February 13, 2026.
Cablenews24 reports that NOWA President, Mrs. Aisha Abass, presided over the commissioning ceremony, emphasizing that the new facilities represent more than just infrastructure upgrades. “Today marks not just the unveiling of bricks and mortar but the realization of a shared mission, a commitment to nurturing the minds and futures of the children in our naval community,” she stated.
Drawing inspiration from Malcolm X, Mrs. Abass highlighted the transformative power of education, noting, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
She underscored NOWA’s focus on education, especially given the unique demands placed on naval families. “As wives of naval officers, we understand the unique challenges our families face, from frequent relocations to the demands of service life. Yet, through it all, we remain steadfast in our belief that quality education is the anchor that steadies our children, empowering them to navigate life’s seas with confidence and resilience,” she explained.
Mrs. Abass described the newly completed project as designed to create a conducive learning environment capable of promoting excellence. “This project represents a significant step toward providing a conducive learning environment equipped to foster creativity, critical thinking, and excellence,” she affirmed.

Addressing the students directly, she urged them to utilize the new facilities to their full potential.
“This project is for you. I hope it inspires you to dream big, study hard, and contribute meaningfully to our nation. Remember, the knowledge you gain here will be your greatest asset in serving Nigeria with honor,” she charged, pledging NOWA’s continued dedication to educational advancement within the naval community.
Commander Baba Inusa, Commandant of the school, welcomed the project as a significant milestone in the school’s development. He said it would provide students with a more conducive learning atmosphere and modern musical instruments to enhance creativity.
“This is not just about the renovation of a physical space; it symbolizes the dedication to providing our students with the best possible learning environment,” Commander Inusa stated.
He expressed deep appreciation to the NOWA National President and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project. “We are grateful for the support and contributions of the NOWA national president. Your dedication and hard work have made today possible. Let us celebrate this achievement and look forward to the many successes that will emerge from these new facilities,” he added.
