LAGOS – In a strategic move to future-proof Nigeria’s digital infrastructure, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) officially inaugurated the National Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Council on April 23, 2026. The ceremony, held at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, brought together key industry stakeholders to signal a new era of internet connectivity and technological advancement for the nation.

Support for Emerging Tech: IPv6 is essential for the seamless operation of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, and advanced cloud computing services.

During the event, leadership emphasized that the council would work closely with telecommunications operators and internet service providers to ensure a smooth, nationwide rollout of the protocol.
