Governance: Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment to Reducing Costs
By Love Ikuku-Oyedokun
In a bid to scale down the incidental costs of premises rentals and consolidate all state parastatals within the Secretariat vicinity, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has pledged to complete the construction of a Multi-Agency Office Complex and the Lagos State Geographical Information System (LAGIS) Centre by September.
Cablenews24 reports that during an inspection of the project sites at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far. The Multi-Agency Building Project, which consists of three blocks (A, B, and C) with a total area of 2.01 hectares, is nearing completion. Block B has eight floors, while blocks A and C have five floors each, with a penthouse on the last floor of each block. The first two floors of each block are designated for parking, while the upper floors will serve as office spaces. The penthouses will be used exclusively for conferencing.
“We have just completed a quick inspection of the multi-agency office complex and the EGIS building, and as you can see, the multi-agency complex is practically completed,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said. “We believe that in another few weeks, the contractors will finish the remaining work, including the extreme cleanup of the complex.”
The Governor also inspected the LAGIS Centre, which is located next to the Multi-Agency Complex. He described the building as “unique” and emphasized its importance in meeting the state’s requirements for land administration. He expressed hope that the project would be completed within the next two to three weeks.
The completion of these projects is expected to coincide with a planned presidential visit to the state. Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the projects would be part of the many initiatives that the President would unveil during the visit.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to reducing the cost of governance and promoting synergy between state agencies through the provision of sustainable office infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive work environment for civil servants and a welcoming space for citizens to receive services.
